5 Asian-Owned Candle Companies To Support Now

Do It Know

When the seasons change, I like to switch up the candle I use in my home from warm and spicy to something more floral and vibrant. Even if it doesn’t quite feel like spring where you live, you can easily transform the vibe of your space with the right candles. Today, I will be sharing five of my favorite ones made by Asian-owned candle companies.

First up is the ube scented candle made by Emme Luxury Soy Candles. Ube is a purple sweet potato that originated in the Philippines, according to the brand. It is used in desserts like cakes and ice cream. And it tastes divine! I was so excited when I saw this offering because ube is one of my favorite flavors. This wood wick candle is creamy and sweet and makes my home smell so good. Emme makes 12 beautiful scents all inspired by Asian flavors like yuzu, lychee, and lemongrass!

This cute flower candle by Japanese candle maker Yui Brooklyn screams spring to me. It comes in a few different colors and scents, so you can personalize it to your taste. I bought this candle with every intention to burn it, but it’s so sweet I think I might just keep it on my bookshelf to enjoy it a little longer. Yui Brooklyn makes dozens of candles in adorable shapes from seashells to pillars to clouds—all perfect for spring.

Terra is a St. Louis candle company founded by Filipina Dianna Allen that creates small-batch collections based on the seasons. Her spring collection features yummy scents like lemon lilac, jasmine fig, and my personal favorite, peach magnolia

Another favorite is the No. 7 Smoke Milk candle by Korean maker Jennifer Rhee, creator of LAIT, an eco-conscious small batch candle company inspired by nature and French culture. This is her best-selling candle, and I can see why. It smells incredible—like a peaceful spa or a beautiful seaside oasis. It’s made with notes of coconut, almond, tobacco, and a hint of sage. Perfect for spring or all year round.

Last, but not least, on my list are these gorgeous, 100% natural candles made in Kawagoe, just north of Tokyo, by the candle company IPPINKA. These candles are made by artisans using a unique wax from the sumac tree. They are smokeless, dripless, and are said to give off a brighter light than typical paraffin-based candles. These candles do not have a scent. I included them on my list because I know it can be tricky shopping for a scent online—plus I just love the beautiful ombre effect. These colors were made using charcoal and the pagoda tree.
